Florida Hospital representatives (l-r): Jodel Bernard, finance resident; Gina Creek, director of leadership; James English, vice president of Revenue Cycle; and Leah Brandon, project manager.

The flagship hospital for Adventist Health Systems, Florida Hospital in Orlando, Florida, sent their top associates to Oakwood University on October 17.

Florida Hospital conducted their information session with vigor, including detailed graphics, clear data, and videos promoting not only the AHS network, but their summer 2016 internship experience. One of the representatives was Jodel Bernard, ’16, finance resident.
Florida Hospital displayed exemplary professionalism throughout their stay in the business department. They were efficient in disseminating information to the students and explained the possible internship and residency opportunities. At the end of the evening session, food from Chipotle served to those students who attended. On October 18 and 19, interviews were conducted concerning the possibility of gaining an internship or a residency for specific fields provided by Florida Hospital. Those choices varied from finance, human resources, marketing, and the revenue cycle, just to name a few. Florida Hospital has 45 internship positions available for the summer of 2017. Approximately 50 business students interviewed for those positions.
We are always grateful to have partnerships with health networks and especially those that intentionally invest in our students. Florida Hospital has offered to give our students a free leadership book to enhance all students in the business department who choose to read it. We look forward to their return to the Oakwood University School of Business to encourage and possibly employ those who students who apply.
