RE: DEATH OF AN OAKWOOD ADVENTIST ACADEMY STUDENT

We were notified early Friday morning of the death of one of the students at Oakwood Adventist Academy (OAA). Details are still coming in about this terrible tragedy, and our thoughts and prayers are with the family.

It is very difficult for all of us to face the death of a young person. Classes at OAA have been cancelled today, Friday, and there will be a support team on campus to work with the OAA faculty and staff members, to provide counseling and support to students.

“Our Oakwood family is grieved by the sudden and unexpected loss of our young student. Our thoughts and prayers reach out to the family at this time. We pray that the faith we cherish so deeply will now serve as a source of support and strength to the family, as it is mingled with love flowing from a broken heart.” – Dr. Leslie Pollard, President of Oakwood University.

The Oakwood University campus family extends our heartfelt sympathy to the student’s family. When we receive more information that is appropriate to share, we will do so; but for now, our prayers and support are with the family, friends, teachers and entire Oakwood Adventist Academy family during this difficult time.
